Knife, Back to the Cutting Board is an illustrated book designed and written by Good God Graphics, exploring the history, design, and use of kitchen knives from around the world.
The project blends research with illustration, featuring detailed drawings of blades such as the Japanese Santoku and Gyuto, the French Chef’s knife, and traditional tools like the Ulu and Kukri. Each spread dives into the origins, craftsmanship, and features of the knives while pairing them with recipes to show their practical use in the kitchen.
The design of the book balances clean typography with hand-drawn illustration, giving it both clarity and personality. Layouts are structured to highlight knife anatomy, cultural background, and culinary applications, making it a resource for both chefs and design enthusiasts.
This project demonstrates how design can bring storytelling and education together, turning a reference guide into an engaging visual experience.
